BE A CHAMPION

OF DREAMS

Brother Let Me Be Your Shelter provides a loving and empowering environment for young girls and boys.

MOST GREAT LEARNING HAPPENS IN GROUPS. COLLABORATION IS THE STUFF OF GROWTH.

- Sir Ken Robinson

A child's focus should be having fun with friends and what they want to be when they grow up.

These dreams shouldn't be permanently disrupted because of a lack of basic needs or support.

Every child deserves a chance to believe that anything is possible.

MAKE AN IMPACT

Too often, a child can “fall behind” not because

of a lack of effort or desire. They just need someone who believes in them and tells them anything is possible, and they can do great things.

Education

Athletics

Physical activity goes beyond impacting just a child’s heath: Studies show that those engaged in sports have a greater tendency to create social bonds, and are less likely to become involved in crime or delinquency.

Community Service

When kids see us helping out, we help them understand their responsibility to pay it forward and become responsible stewards of their community.

HOW THE BROTHERHOOD WORKS

blymbys-torrian-tara.jpg

Helping mom see her son play football

Torrian received a scholarship to attend and play football at Ellsworth Community College In Iowa.  His mother, Tara, while thrilled and excited for her son, was worried she may not be able to see him play due to the distance and expense of traveling out of state.

Brother Let Me Be Your Shelter

We stepped in and covered the cost for her first-ever flight so that she could be there  for Torrian during his first game. Resources Provided: Financial assistance for her flight

Outcome

The moment is even more special now as Tara passed away unexpectedly later that year. Moments like these are what inspire us to keep working hard for our community.  We are thankful to have had a part in creating treasured memories like this for our kids.

Ashton Hagans visit

Ashton joined the parks and rec 10U football teams to share his experience and mentoring thoughts from the time he grew up in Cartersville to his now journey to the NBA in Minnesota.

Pumpkin carving

We paired some of our older "brothers" (boys/girls) to help a few of our younger boys in carving pumpkins.  We discovered this was a first for many of our mentors and mentees.

Purchased team pictures

Some children aren't able to afford team pictures due to the cost. We didn't want anyone to miss out, so we stepped in to cover the costs of photos for those who couldn't afford it.
